Manchester Pride on Gaydio

Wednesday, 25th August 10

After a brief gap last year, Gaydio is once again on air providing full coverage of this year’s Manchester Pride festival. The station has previously provided radio coverage of Pride since beginning a series of temporary broadcasts back in 2006, but after launching full time on June 18th it can now be heard 24 hours a day throughout the festival period, and beyond.

Weekend festival coverage will include build-up to the event starting with Chris Holliday at Breakfast on the Friday morning. Throughout the weekend there will be live coverage from all over the festival site, including backstage, talking to the artists performing on the Main Stage. Many of Pride’s biggest club events will also feature on the station either live, or played out the next evening as a reminder of the night before.

Gaydio will once again provide commentary of the Manchester Pride Parade live from 1pm - weekday afternoon presenter Nicksy will be live in the heart of the action, with Breakfast’s Chris Holliday and Emma Goswell on the viewing platform at Albert Square. To close a big weekend of celebrations, Gaydio will be live from Sackville Gardens on Bank Holiday Monday evening from 8pm with a special programme that includes the Candlelit Vigil and remembers those that have been affected by HIV.

Programme Director Toby Whitehouse said “We love Manchester Pride at Gaydio – it’s really exciting to be reflecting everything that’s going on at Gay Christmas! One of the best things about listening to Gaydio over Pride is that you can really feel part of the festival whether you’re in your bedroom getting ready to come to the village, or you’re on the other side of the world wishing you were”

Gaydio is available on 88.4fm across Greater Manchester, online at www.gaydio.co.uk or on mobile phones, including iPhones via the new app which is available to download now.
