Manchester Pride 2008 needs you

Manchester plans it's parade

Wednesday, 19 March 2008

Don’t let nothing rain on your parade this year. Especially if you’re in Manchester. Yes, arguably the North’s favourite gay day, is ready for you to make Manchester proud and join the biggest parade of the year. The 2008 Manchester Pride Parade will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 25 August, creating a carnival of colour as it weaves through the streets of Manchester city centre. The festival’s organisers are inviting social groups, organisations, commercial companies and anyone who wishes to be a part of the festivities to get in touch as soon as possible. The team at Manchester Pride are appealing for a wide range of entrants, from the flamboyant and colourful to the hilarious and entertaining. Original and effective entries do not necessarily require big budgets and large vehicles. Some of the most effective entries can be created through simple co-ordinated costumes, props or banners.

Jackie Crozier, festival manager of Manchester Pride, said: “Our 18th birthday celebrations will make this year’s parade bigger than ever before. I would urge those wishing to take part to submit their applications as soon as possible, to ensure they get a place. Joining the parade is an ideal opportunity to place your cause at the heart of Pride whilst demonstrating your support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.” Any interested parties should summit their entries by 5pm on Friday 11 July. What you waiting for? It’s time to get the glitter, sequin and paints out. It’s time to parade.

An information pack and application form can be obtained from Jackie Crozier on 0161 236 7474 or
