Gay City Rollers return, raising money for the LGF

Rolling into summer

Friday, 25 April 2008

After the huge success of Manchester's first ever queer roller disco in February and due to popular demand, Gay City Rollers 2 will be returning in May for another night of camp fun and frolics.

Themed in an eighties style, Manchester’s Lesbian Gay Foundation are going ‘Back to the Future’ on Wednesday 14th May to bring you another fantastic attitude-free alternative roller disco night at the city’s Billie Rox venue on Portland Street. The event offers attendees the opportunity to enjoy a night of 80s classics, fun and games and make new friends while raising funds for the Lesbian and Gay Foundation - the North West's leading community based charity, working to end homophobia and empower people.

Organiser Rachel Bottomley says: "Our first Gay City Rollers event was a massive success with more than 400 people attending and over £1,600 being raised for LGF work. The feedback we've had from people who attended has been too good not to do it again. So put the 14th May in your dairy, spread the word, get your skates on and buy some lycra!"

Tickets are £3 in advance or £4 on the door. There will be an additional £3 inside the venue for skate hire or £5 for blade hire. All of the money raised from ticket sales will go directly back into LGF services.

Not only is it a great night, it is for a great cause too! People of all ages, sexual preferences and skating abilities are invited to take part. Contact for further information or to buy tickets. Tickets will also soon be on sale from Clonezone, Sackville St, Manchester.
