review

The new look Spirit has arrived, and it's quite an improvement. Gone are the sticky carpets and in are polished wood floorboards. It's good to see the place looking up to scratch again after a gradual decline over the past years.

I'm not sure what the door policy was but they were obviously doing a good job of ensuring that the place wasn't overrun with hen nights as can easily happen on a Saturday night. A friendly, mixed crowd of gay and straight, male and female, clubbers and indieboys... with decent music from a live DJ and enough room to have a bit of a dance - we enjoyed the night.

about Spirit

Purpose-built for your socialising pleasure on Canal Street, Spirit Bar is a deceptively large venue. Arranged on several floors, there are plenty of squashy sofas in which to kick back and relax, not to mention those cheeky beds on the mezzanine floor upon which to make the first move with that first date! In fact, whether it's a romantic date, a quick one after work or a night out with your mates, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere is perfect for drinking and chatting.
