review

The question on everyones lips tonight was 'Is Corrie the queerest soap on the telly?!'.

The night began with T4 and Holiday presenter Anthony Crank introducing TV soap legend Tony Warren, creator of Coronation Street, to the stage for a night of show clips, chit chat and laughs.

Tony charmed the crowd, honouring us with stories from the early days on the Street's cobbles, and clips featuring classic characters such as Elsie Tanner.

Later, we were introduced to some of the writers such as Jonathan Harvey and Antony Cotton, who plays current gay favourite Sean Tully, joined Tony on the stage.

We relived classic moments such as transgender character Hayley Cropper admitting her past to Roy during a dinner date, Todd coming out to his mother Ilene, Todd reluctantly coming out to the street as Ilene and Gail Platt fight it out and finally Todd and boyfriend Carl standing up to the biggots in the Rovers return. We saw Sean admitting his true feelings to Jamie Baldwin during a night on Canal street, Sean and Sonny being reunited and later Sean telling Sonny how it is. Clips that made us laugh, cheer and of course touched our hearts.

A fantastic audience atmosphere was created by the Coronation street stars and creators. All in all this was a night that those who couldn't attend would be jealous to have missed!
