It's hard to miss Poptastic's birthday... and why would you want to?! With well over 1,000 people partying the night away at the Birdcage tonight - and with live performances from Salty Lips and Daggers the night was a huge, 80's-filled-neon-shiny success!

So what's the score with the Pete Burns thing - who was due to play tonight but who failed to show? Well! He apparently arrived in Manchester to play, but his suite at the Palace Hotel was too dark (!) so he refused to stay there... promoters were eager to please and found him another room at the luxurious Midland instead... but Pete wasn't happy... the room was too small - so he drove back to London.

You can make your own mind up if you think any room in Manchester would have been light enough and big enough for this man's perhaps somewhat inflated post-Big-Brother popstar ego...
