"Do something fabulous today - join Pride in Brighton & Hove and give something back to that most memorable day you will ever have. Love DJ Hollie xxxxxxx" said by hollie 2 Feb '08
..and so off we went, along a route which seemed to encompass the whole of Brighton & Hove. BLAGSS, who devised the route, certainly made sure that our sponsors were getting their money’s worth!
A blustery walk along the seafront to the furthest ends of Hove Lawns soon blew away any traces of Saturday night’s excesses before we headed inland through deepest Hove. It was here that we were joined by Antony Cotton who had eventually escaped the traffic jams into Brighton. What a nice man! A big thanks to him, Denise Black, Amy Lamé and Mr Gay UK for putting in the effort to walk with us and give the whole event that touch of showbiz glam.
Churchill Square soon whizzed by, so it was full speed ahead up St James Street and on into the furthest reaches of Kemptown. I must admit that by the time we had circuited Lewes Crescent I was beginning to feel a little weary and it was very tempting to nip home for a quick snooze. But another blast of sea air back along the seafront soon revived me for the final stretch to Legends and the after party.
Congratulations are due to Stonewall for organising the walk so well – there were friendly stewards all along the route, guiding and encouraging us. Also a big thank-you to all the other walkers, many of them visiting Brighton especially for the event; you made it was a great day for a great cause.
